Eight year old Louis Fisher awarded a prestigious accolade from the High Sheriff of Herefordshire

Young Louis Fisher from Herefordshire has been honoured in a ceremony with the High Sheriff of Herefordshire, Patricia Churchward, thanks to his incredible fundraising efforts for George’s Fund.

Aged only eight, Louis embarked on a 50-mile bike ride from Herefordshire to the top of Pen Y Fan to remember his friend George and raise £4000 for the charitable fund which has been set up in his memory.

Managed by Herefordshire Community Foundation, George’s Fund is a specially named fund, set up to celebrate the short and special life of George. It raises money and gives grants to local projects that help primary-aged children overcome physical and emotional barriers through outdoor projects.

Of Louis’ achievement George’s mum Laura Hughes said, “It was such a lovely thing for Louis to do and the whole school and parents have come together in support of us. We were told its very rare that children get this award from the High Sheriff so it’s a brilliant achievement.”

It was a fantastic thing for Louis to have done and the fund will go on from strength to strength due to his efforts. I was so proud of him and it was an honour to present him with the award for his incredible initiative in raising money.
