Grants for ‘Community Warm Spaces’

Once again we are providing help within our community this winter. Our Community Warm Spaces fund is awarding grants of up to £2,000 to heat community spaces and support food projects.

Grant applications will be accepted directly from community organisation providing ‘warm spaces’ in Herefordshire.

Priority will be given to projects supporting people experiencing homelessness, older people, disabled people and young families in need, as well as those providing meals to those suffering hardship.

Last year we supported 5 community spaces including Lea Lunch Club.

The funding at Lea Lunch Club enabled them to offer warm meals in the community at £3 per head.

“Keeping the cost down ensures that no one misses out just because they can’t afford it. We ask anyone the feels they want to contribute more to instead buy extra raffle tickets. This spares anyone’s blushes about not having the means to pay. We are determined that everyone should be able to come if they want to and not be put off by having to pay.”

“Our popularity is spreading as really quite a special lunch club in that we attract ‘all sorts’, not just typically low-income older people. Everyone mixes and makes new friends which is very special to see.”

The programme will close when the fund has been spent out and early submission of applications is advised.
