Iron Fund packs a punch in the county

The Iron Fund … making connections and meeting the needs of disadvantaged communities.

The Iron Fund was established to provide grants which relieve the needs of people in Herefordshire. It favours projects which encourage community cohesion, relieve issues of isolation and alleviate disadvantage.

In the last year the power of this fund has been felt in a wide range of projects across the county. These are:

* Rebound therapy for SEND children & young people at React Gymnastic & Trampoline Club

* Breast cancer peer support group ‘Tea and Chat’ with Make 2nd Count

* Brain Tumour support services

* Befriending support for disadvantaged Herefordshire families

* Rural befriending project

* Horticultural therapy sessions

* Mentoring for young men in Herefordshire 11-18

* Accessible gaming event

* Forest schools for school children at risk of exclusion

* Transport for school-to-farm educational visits

* Social club for adults with learning disabilities in North Herefordshire

* ‘Autie’ Social club for autistic adults

* Play project for children and young people with complex disabilities and health needs

* Project giving voice to people with learning disabilities in Herefordshire

* Course for single and unemployed parents in Ledbury for personal and professional growth

* Youth clubs in Leominster, Ross-on, Wye and Hereford City

* Social activities for bereavement support

* Bereavement support for children and young people in Herefordshire

* Hardship fund at Herefordshire Badminton Club

* Memory cafe for Dementia Matters in Ross-on-Wye

* Newsletter for adults with learning disabilities

* Walk & Search days promoting the history of ROF Rotherwas and its workers

* Blood bike replacement for Severn Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Service

* Team shelters at Royal National College for the Blind

* Camping equipment for Scouts Bromyard

* Playpark regeneration in Ross-on Wye

* Improvements to city community centre

* Kitchen refurbishment for a North Herefordshire village hall

* West Mercia Women’s Aid – training for partner organisations supporting victims of domestic abuse

* Therapeutic sessions for young people witness to or subjected to domestic abuse

* Core costs for Megan Baker House

* Core costs for Carers of Herefordshire

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, at any time during the year.
